Church

Restoration believes that God’s strength and love is what truly enables people to turn their lives around.

The overall goal of Restoration is to give residents the opportunity to learn that they are just as capable as anyone else of living a full and complete life, having within them the God-given abilities that the Lord has instilled in all of us.

We hold “Worship and Word” services each Sunday at 11:00 am and each Wednesday at 7:00 pm. We also have Adult Sunday school at 9:30 am. The first Sunday of each month we celebrate Communion. The children are in this service. Other Sundays, we have Children’s Church concurrent with Adult Word.

Many times throughout the year we celebrate special occasions, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Resurrection Sunday, Christmas, we are always looking for an opportunity to eat together or have our children perform, or both! We also have baptisms and weddings and baby showers. Such blessings!

The stereotype is that “black” churches are people dressed to the teeth, big hats and very loud and boisterous. The stereotype is that “white” churches are people dressed to the teeth, and very quiet and subdued. Both “types” are stand-offish to visitors.  Restoration is a diverse church, people range in attire from jeans to best dress, tattoos to bling, with all shades of skin tone.

A community member with ties to Restoration Urban Ministries came to church a couple of weeks ago. Her report? “I was so impressed, people of all types, in all manner of dress, and everyone made a point to come over and meet me, the “new” face in the crowd. I felt so welcome.”

Revelation 7:9 New King James Version (NKJV)

After these things I looked, and behold, a great multitude which no one could number, of all nations, tribes, peoples, and tongues, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, with palm branches in their hands,

We must face the fact that in America, the church is still the most segregated major institution in America. At 11:00 on Sunday morning when we stand and sing and Christ has no east or west, we stand at the most segregated hour in this nation.
